Qualifications and Study Experience
Luke studied a non-law degree at the University of Birmingham, obtaining a 2:1 degree classification. He then completed the Graduate Diploma in Law from the College of Law in Birmingham with a Commendation and then the Legal Practice Course at the same college, achieving a Distinction.
Luke began his legal career at Lumsdons Solicitors as a paralegal in 2011, progressing then to a Trainee Solicitor the following year. He enjoyed seats in the Family Department, Private Client and Civil Litigation teams.
Luke qualified as a solicitor in 2013 when Waldrons Solicitors then acquired the Worcester branch office of Lumsdons and so Luke joined the Waldrons Family Law team for several years before he moved to the Child Care team in Dudley and then in Worcester. He has developed a specialism in Child Care law representing parents, children, guardians, foster carers and extended family members (including grandparents, aunts and uncles) in various child care court proceedings and pre-proceedings. This includes issues such as care proceedings, adoption or placement orders, special guardianship orders, child arrangements orders, section 20 agreements, PLO/pre-proceedings meetings and child abduction.
He conducts his own advocacy and also provides advice on legal aid applications and on emergency injunctions such as non-molestation orders.
Luke was promoted to Associate Director in November 2022 having seen the significant growth of the Care Department and the Worcester office.
Luke qualified as a Solicitor in 2013. He is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales.
He received the Law Society Children Panel Accreditation in January 2018 which is recognition for his specialism in the Child Care area and has enabled him to represent children through their CAFCASS appointed Guardian and parties in complex proceedings, including before the Family Division of the High Court.
Luke has delivered training to Women’s Aid volunteers and seminars to members of the Kinship Carer’s charity.
Luke dealt with the reported case Re: YY (Children: Conduct of the Local Authority) EWHC 749 (Fam) representing one of the children before The Honourable Mr Justice Keehan where findings were made against the local authority due to their failure to appropriately manage the care plans for a group of siblings in foster care.
Luke has received extremely positive client reviews and here are two:
