Qualifications and Study Experience

Alissa first discovered her passion for law whilst on a volunteering project in South Africa for law and human rights. This led her to wish to pursue a degree in law and she graduated with her law degree in 2023 from the University of Surrey, obtaining a 2:1 degree classification. During her studies, she took a sandwich year where she completed a semester abroad studying at a university in Finland. Alissa used the remainder of her sandwich year to complete an internship at the National Centre for Domestic Violence.

Work Experience

Alissa valued her role at the National Centre for Domestic Violence so much that she continued to work for the organisation part-time during her final year of university. Throughout working here, Alissa worked in various teams to help victims. These included the pro bono team – where she assisted litigants in person, the legal aid team – where she assisted those who were on low-incomes, and the first steps team – where she helped victims to take the first steps in seeking the relevant help they needed. These roles formed an eye-opening experience that fuelled her desire to explore family law further.

Alissa enjoys spending time with her family and friends in her free time, as well as eating out, cooking, and baking. She enjoys travelling and exploring new cultures. Alissa is also a full-time mother to her cat, Nala!
