How to guide - Skype Calls

Thursday 9th April 2020

Courtney Hawkins, one of our Trainee Solicitors, has put together a helpful how to guide on making Skype Calls:

As the government have told us we all need to stay at home, we need to find different ways in which we can communicate with our friends and family and stay in touch with the outside world. One very easy way of doing so is through an app called Skype.

Skype is a platform and app that allows you to make audio and video calls to other people around the world. You can also send instant messages.

In order to download the app, the first thing you will need to do is download and install Skype for modern Windows from the Windows Store and sign in using your email address.

You will then need to add some contacts by doing the following:

● Select the people tab

● Select the add contact icon at the top of the screen

● Enter the name, Skype Name or email address of the person you are looking for and press Enter or tap the search icon.

● From the list of matches, select the person you’d like to add and then select add to contacts in the conversation window that opens.

To actually make the call you will need to select the contact you want to call under people (at this point, the contact needs to be available where a green icon is displayed next to their name). In the window that opens, tap or click the green call icon and you will be connected!
