Children can find talking about death an uncomfortable and upsetting subject so it is often helpful to translate it into something they understand. This may mean providing them with a scenario which in effect means the same but using a different example in which they can relate to more easily.
The leaflet Talking with children about dying is a further piece of guidance from Hospice UK to assist with the way we talk about how children are feeling and also helps with how we answer practical questions.
