Qualifications and Study Experience

Alka was awarded the Mayors Award for excellence in Business and Law studies following her A Level studies. She then went on to study Law at Wolverhampton University obtaining an LLB Honours Degree, and then completed her LLM LPC with BPP University.

 

Work Experience

Alka has been a Family Lawyer with 8 years’ experience in dealing with all aspects of Family Law. Alka started her career working in Defence Criminal Law, before shifting into the world of Matrimonial matters. She felt more connected with the help and support she was able to provide to the domestic abuse victims and felt that she could achieve more in her role as a Family Lawyer, so decided to continue progressing her knowledge and skills in this area of practice.

Alka began her career as a paralegal and legal executive, working towards the CILEX qualification, before she was offered a training contract, following which her pathway took a different direction and allowed to her to qualify as a Solicitor.

Alka has dealt with matters relating to Domestic Violence, Occupation Orders, Divorce, Home Rights, Matrimonial Finance, Cohabitation and Children Matters.

 

External Mentions

Alka was a volunteer for charitable organisations, such as Women’s Aid and Islamic Relief, assisting those in need of reaching safety away from their family home. She has spent a lot of time on research projects relating to Domestic Violence and has participated in many charitable programmes supporting both male and female victims.

As part of her LLM studies, Alka carried out extensive research and collated a thesis evaluating why there are hidden victims of mental abuse and the lack of support from charitable organisations for a certain category individuals.

Alka qualified as a Solicitor in 2023. She is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales.

Alka enjoys travelling and exploring the history of different cultures, reading books, both educational and fictional, along with spending time with her family.
