On 24 June 2025, North and West Gloucestershire Citizens Advice held a Volunteer Celebration at Overton House , Cheltenham, supported by Waldrons Solicitors and the Barnwood Trust. The event brought together volunteers, staff and partners to recognise the invaluable contribution volunteers make to local communities across Gloucestershire.
The morning began with refreshments and opening remarks from Helen Winstanley, Core Services Team Leader at North & West Gloucestershire CAB (formally Forest of Dean and Gloucester & District Citizen Advice Bureau). Attendees heard from the Barnwood Trust and Waldrons Solicitors before taking part in a team activity, “Jury Service – Guilty or Not!” which gave everyone the chance to work together, examine evidence and deliver their verdict as if serving on a real jury.
The event was attended by Senior Leaders at Waldrons Solicitors: John McDonnell, Vishal Mahay and Belinda Hill. Waldrons’ support underlines their commitment to supporting local organisations and promoting access to justice. Speaking on behalf of Waldrons, John McDonnell expressed the firm’s sentiments that, Waldrons are pleased to support Citizens Advice and to be part of this celebration. Volunteers make a real difference every day and their commitment to helping others is at the heart of a strong community.
The recognition event was led by Peter Whittall expressing thanks to those volunteers who had served their community for over ten years with closing words from Helen Winstanley who thanked all Volunteers for their dedication and the positive impact they have in Gloucestershire.
The event was a fitting tribute to all those who give their time and effort to help others through Citizens Advice and demonstrated the strength of partnership across the community.
