The Black Country Duck Race is Back – Bigger, Better and More Quackers Than Ever Before!

Thursday 26th June 2025

Mary Stevens Hospice’s much-loved Black Country Duck Race and Family Festival returns to The Waterfront, Brierley Hill, on Sunday 29 June for a day of fun, fundraising and feathered festivities.

The Black Country Duck Race© and Family Festival 2025 is set to make a splash once again as families and businesses from across the region come together to cheer on their champion ducks. Taking place from 12pm to 5pm at The Waterfront, the event promises a jam-packed day of street food, live music, family-friendly entertainment and the all-important duck races kicking off from 3pm.

Proudly sponsored by Waldrons Solicitors and Prosperity Wealth, this year’s event will also feature support from local partners including Baileys Fishing Tackle who have supported the duck race from the first time it was held and provide small ducks for the race itself.  The Waterfront and Digbeth Dining Club are also kindly partnering. Ducks can be purchased online for just £3, with the chance to win a £100 prize and the coveted Mick Bailey Duck Race Trophy.

Waldrons Solicitors, who are returning sponsors for the event, will be present on the day with their team and bespoke corporate ducks. Embracing their Wills and Probate Team mantra “Get your ducks in a row”, Waldrons are putting their creative spin on the race with a specially decorated duck making its grand debut.

Joseph Norton, Managing Director at Waldrons Solicitors commented: “We are proud to be sponsoring Mary Stevens Hospice once again for this wonderful event. It is a fantastic way of raising funds for a well-deserving local charity that continues to support our community with compassion and care for those living with an incurable illness. The Duck Race is a brilliant blend of fun and fundraising and we’re looking forward to cheering our ducks across the finish line alongside everyone else.”

Fellow sponsor Prosperity Wealth will also be joining the festivities once again. Their continued support of local events and charitable causes reflects their wider commitment to the community.

Matt Bell, CEO at Prosperity Wealth said: “We’re delighted to once again support Mary Stevens Hospice and this brilliant community event. The Duck Race brings people together in the most joyful way, it’s light-hearted, inclusive and does so much good for such a vital local cause. We’ll be there on the day cheering on our ducks, connecting with families, and celebrating the difference we can all make when we come together.”

The day is about more than just ducks. With street food courtesy of Digbeth Dining Club, music, stalls and games, there’s something for everyone. The event celebrates the strength and generosity of the local community, which continues to be the backbone of Mary Stevens Hospice’s vital work.

James Totney, Deputy Head of Fundraising & Events Fundraiser at the Hospice, said:

“Following the success of last year’s Duck Race at The Waterfront, we are thrilled to be back! We’ve got a day of fun activities planned to keep the whole family entertained.

We can’t thank our community enough for turning out in force each year to help us raise funds so we can continue to provide our vital services now and in the future.

Without them and the continued support of local businesses, we would be unable to reach the £3.5 million we need to raise each year.”

Whether you’re racing a duck, enjoying a bite from one of the region’s best street food traders, or just soaking up the atmosphere with family and friends, this year’s event promises to be a true Black Country highlight.
