Food Hygiene Investigations
Local Authorities have a number of food safety investigators who are tasked to monitor suppliers of food to the public to ensure that hygiene and food safety regulations are maintained.
A single complaint from a member of the public can trigger a full scale investigation into a food retailer which can often cause many problems to that food retailer.
Where inspectors find problems a Prohibition Notice and Improvement Notice are usually served. This means that your business may have to close for a period of time until improvements are made. This is not the end of the case as investigations will continue and generally result in prosecutions before the Court.
If you are the subject of any food safety investigation then contact us and we will offer advice, assistance and representation every step of the way. Including representation at formal interviews, negotiating with the Local Authority and representation before the Courts should the matter proceed that far.
Environmental Offences
There are a number of offences that are prosecuted by the Environment Agency and their subdivisions, which tend to deal with unauthorised or harmful deposit, treatment or disposal of waste – such as fly tipping.
These prosecutions are taken extremely seriously by the Courts and often involve fines running into £1,000,000s and in some cases imprisonment for individuals.
If you are the subject of any such investigation we can represent you throughout the course of that investigation, be that during attendance at interviews, negotiations with the Environment Agency and representation at Court. Contact us to find out more.
