About Me
Olivia enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys travelling abroad and has visited many European cities including Rome, Paris, Berlin and Krakow. Olivia visits Athens in Greece every summer where she likes to relax on the beach with a book and a cocktail and she has Dubai next on her hit list.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Olivia studied the law for the first time whilst completing her A-levels, which sparked an interest in criminal law and desire to study law at degree level. Olivia completed the LLB Law course at Nottingham Law School achieving a first class honours award overall.
In summer 2021 Olivia is due to complete the Legal Practice Course, which she has been studying on a part time basis since 2019 alongside her work at Waldrons Solicitors. This course has involved studying various areas of the law including employment law, criminal litigation and commercial property law.
Career Pathway
During the second year of her undergraduate studies she took half of the academic year to complete a work placement with the Johnson Partnership in Nottingham City Centre, a firm specialising in criminal law. Here, Olivia had her first experience in the Criminal Courts and decided that she was keen to pursue a legal career.
Olivia worked part time during her final year in the Criminal Defence Direct call centre giving telephone advice to people at police stations and also began working towards the Police Station Representatives Accreditation Scheme in 2018. She was required to build up a portfolio of cases where she had advised clients at the police station.
Upon graduating, Olivia started her first full time legal role as a paralegal at Waldrons Solicitors in the criminal defence department and became a fully accredited police station representative.
Olivia now spends most of her days at the police station assisting clients and ensuring they get the best possible outcome at the police station, dealing with a variety of cases ranging from driving offences to more serious allegations. Olivia frequently makes representations on behalf of clients to both the police and the courts with regard to police bail and police bail conditions. She also helps clients prepare for hearings at the Magistrates’ Court and the Crown Court on behalf of the other advocates in the criminal defence team.
