QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Colin graduated from the University of Bournemouth before achieving a BA (Hons) in Law, Politics and EEC Law. He then attended Hull University where he obtained a LLM in Public International Law, Conflicts of Law and EEC Law. He attended the University of Leicester where he undertook the LPC on a part time basis subsequently qualifying as a solicitor.
Colin has over 25 years experience in the legal sector. Colin commenced his legal career working as a paralegal in the criminal department of Bernard, Wright and Cursham in Nottingham. Here I would attend police interviews with Defendants and sit behind counsel at trials.
Colin worked for a firm called Talbots in Rugby where he dealt mainly with general litigation including debt recovery and repossessions, contractual disputes and personal injury including road traffic accidents and employers liability.
Colin then worked for a firm called Harvey Ingram in Leicester specialising in general litigation and personal injury. General litigation was predominantly contractual disputes where I acted for both Claimants and Defendants. I was responsible for dealing with agency work and would frequently attend court dealing with a variety of applications and repossessions. My personal injury caseload was predominately employer liability and road traffic accidents acting for a number of trade union clients.
I then worked for Tollers LLP in Northampton where I became a Salaried Partner. I undertook all types of personal injury work predominantly Multi-track, which included road traffic accidents, employer’s liability, public liability, product liability and accidents involving aircraft, boats and sporting injuries. I also conducted claims involving accidents abroad. In this role I had regular dealings with medical experts of various disciplines, accident reconstruction experts, case managers. I managed a team of 5 other lawyers ensuring that individual and team targets were met. Memorable cases included dealing with a claim where the deceased was accidently shot by a friend, a prisoner who hanged himself in his cell and a client injured in a glider accident.
I then worked for Minster Law in London. Here I was a Senior Solicitor in the Complex Claims Team dealing with a variety of Multi-track claims, representing clients who had suffered life changing catastrophic injuries. My caseload covered road traffic accidents, employer’s liability, product liability and animal cases. One memorable case was obtaining a six figure sum for a client who was bitten by a cat. Another was obtaining a six figure sum for a client who lost an eye caused by a defective dog harness.
I then worked for Trinity Law in Birmingham as a Senior Solicitor dealing with both Fast track and Multi-track ammeters including road traffic accidents; dog bite claims, public and employers liability.
In November 2019 Trinity Law amalgamated with Waldrons and I have carried on undertaking similar work to that whilst at Trinity Law.
