Trips, Slips and Falls
You may be entitled to compensation if you have been injured after a fall in a public place but finding out who is to blame can be more difficult:
- If the fall happened outside on the pavement or other public place, it could be the local Council who is responsible. The Council has a duty to repair public roads providing the defect is a certain height (or depth).
- If the fall happened in a shop or on someone else’s property, it could be the shop owner or home owner who is responsible. They have a duty to ensure people are reasonably safe while visiting their properties so you must notify them of the fall.
- Photographs showing what caused you to fall are necessary and this is something we can do for you so the sooner we see you, the better.
