With cycling in the headlines following Mark Cavendish’s World Road Race championship win, Black Country solicitors Waldrons has announced an exclusive three year sponsorship deal with the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League (WMCCL).
The firm will be supporting the WMCCL’s off-road bike racing league until 2013, donating a regular amount to the organisation to support its activities.
So far the sponsorship deal has enabled the league – now known as the Waldrons West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League - to invest in brand new ‘start’ and ‘finish’ banners and a complete set of race numbers for each age category for league competitions.
Waldrons’ support will also help with purchasing course marking tape, course stakes and event signage to raise the profile and standard of league events. Additionally, it’s intended to fund young developing riders with organised racing weekends to Belgium where they can gain valuable international experience.
The Waldrons West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League caters for all ages and abilities offering cycling enthusiasts the chance to compete in technical and non-technical races.
As well as supporting the development of cyclo-cross in the region, Waldrons will be on hand to provide members with useful advice on all legal matters including personal injury claims, wills and buying and selling residential property.
The firm will also support the league in promoting safety advice on how to avoid accidents and the steps to take if they are involved in an accident.
Partner at Waldrons, Adrian Witt says the firm is delighted to support the WMCCL and its members.
“Supporting local sportsmen and women is something we’ve always been proud to do,” he said.
“We’re delighted to be able to offer financial and legal support to such a well run and supported league.
“Our specialist personal injury team have represented a significant number of cases where cyclists have been injured and we are all too well aware of the potential dangers cyclists face. Knowing what to do can make a big difference in dealing with the aftermath of an accident, and it’s an area in which we’re well placed to help.”
WMCCL co-ordinator, David Garrett, said: “It is fantastic for the league to have such an influential and well respected local partner.
“Waldrons will play an important role over the next three years providing on-going support and advice to our members.
“The committee recognised early on the clear benefits of teaming up with a firm that has experience representing cyclists on a day to day basis.”
