WALDRONS SOLICITORS BARE ALL FOR A GOOD CAUSE

May 01, 2011

Daring Waldrons solicitors have bared all to recreate the well-known ‘Calendar Girls’ scene in a fundraising effort for St Giles Walsall Hospice.

A group of eight solicitors from the Black Country legal firm stripped off their wigs and gowns to enter the hospice’s competition to find the town’s best ‘calendar girls and boys’.

Waldrons were crowned the winning group by Calendar Girl stage actress Lynda Bellingham after beating a number of neighbouring companies to the title, and helping to raise over £2,000.

The eight were presented with a signed copy of their winning photograph as part of a special fund-raising ‘evening with a calendar girl’, organised by the Walsall hospice.

Waldrons partner, Trudy Pratt says the team was delighted to throw its support behind such a fantastic local cause.

She said: “I’m so proud of our winning photograph. It took a lot of courage and trust to bare all but it was worth it to help raise money for the services provided St Giles Walsall Hospice.

“Lynda Bellingham was brilliant and full of praise for our efforts.”

St Giles Walsall Hospice is the new name for Walsall Hospice following its successful merger with St Giles Hospice earlier this year. It provides high-quality specialist care for people with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as offering support for their families and carers.

Cheryl Bradburne, head of fundraising from St Giles Walsall Hospice, said: “We’re so grateful to Waldrons and all our corporate supporters who took time out to strip off in aid of our fundraising challenge.

“They were all fantastic sports and Waldrons were certainly worthy winners and fully deserved the title of best group.”
