WALDRONS SOLICITOR RECOGNISED AS RISING STAR

April 08, 2011

A Walsall employment solicitor has been recognised for her outstanding contribution in providing young people with the skills required for the world of work.

Hannah Scott, solicitor from specialist Black Country solicitors Waldrons accepted a ‘Rising Star’ Award from Walsall Education Business Partnership (EBP) at its 15th annual Employer Conference recently.

The prestigious award is presented to only a small number of professional business individuals who have dedicated a significant amount of voluntary time supporting young people in schools throughout Walsall, as part of the Walsall EBP.

During the last year, Hannah has visited primary and secondary schools throughout the borough as a ‘business supporter’ to provide pupils with professional mentoring in employability skills, such as how to present themselves in a job interview, working to deadlines and handling presentations.

“It is amazing to be recognised and receive such a special award,” she said.

“Walsall EBP provides an excellent platform for businesses to help the future generation gain work-related skills and experience from an early age.

“I would really encourage other businesses to get involved and offer support to such a worthwhile project.

“Waldrons will continue to support Walsall EBP with more solicitors joining the partnership as business supporters.”

Walsall EBP provides the opportunity for employers and schools to raise the quality and relevance of skills gained in preparation for the world of work.

Sarah Finnigan, EBP co-ordinator of Walsall EBP said: “Hannah has made such a big impact in the short amount of time she’s been supporting Walsall EBP.

“Her enthusiasm and professional experience has really played a big part in supporting a number of our projects and pupils in their personal development gaining work-related skills and hands-on experience.”
